Scope of Role
The Buyer Planner is responsible for the execution of purchased and manufactured planning activities for designated product line(s) with a focus on optimizing material flow. The position is also responsible for maintaining effective relationships with business unit leadership and sourcing management to ensure all tactical sourcing activities support the organization’s business needs, strategic goals and financial plan.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
• Develop plans and execute purchase orders based on tactical parameters (supplier choice, price, delivery terms).
Manage purchase order life cycle (creation, maintenance, follow through) with assigned vendors.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date reorder points and lot sizes for manufactured and purchased components.
Negotiate pricing and execute purchase orders and agreements with suppliers to support business objectives.
Place orders from approved suppliers to include verifying pricing, quantities needed, product availability, required delivery dates and best shipment methods.
Respond to expedite requests from internal and external customers. Quote lead times on products to customer service.

Follow strategic sourcing strategies and supplier selections. Alert strategic sourcing if suppliers do not respect commitments and risk delaying the production schedule after having investigated all potential solutions with the Value Stream Manager.
Manage incoming material flow to ensure inventory is maintained to the optimum level per established parameters. Provide strategic sourcing with proposals to improve the material flow from the supplier to the value stream.
Understand and evaluate supplier processes, capacities and overall business capabilities to identify and implement areas for improvement in cost, quantity, delivery, quality, and inventory turns.
Monitor order status in relation to production needs to verify materials are received on time.
Utilize warehouse and inventory control policies and procedures to assure proper inventory levels.
Investigate inventory discrepancies and determine root causes.
Support the implementation of standard processes for the vendor selection, material flow, and inventory management.
Generate daily, weekly, and monthly reports as required.

Supporting an existing, established manufacturing global company with the further growth of UAV product sales and services across a broad spectrum of applications, we are seeking a Buyer for a 10-month contract to join their Purchasing Team within the Operations Department. This is an office-based position in Leicester.
Liaising with UK and international supply chains, you will be responsible for:
- Purchasing goods and services, both direct and indirect, as required by the company for use in its products and support of its operations.

JOB PURPOSE
The Buyer/Planner will assist the purchasing team in managing supplier relationships with regards to the purchase of goods and/or services for manufacturing purposes. They have extensive experience in offshore and onshore facilities specialising in asset management services throughout all life cycle phases from consulting, engineering, manufacturing, assembly, operations, maintenance, and decommissioning.

Main Responsibilities
•Work within a cross-functional team (Procurement, Sales and Bid Team, Engineering, Quality, Legal and others as required) to lead the supplier selection and contract award for work.
•Close support for the Bid Team in the preparation of cost information for the submission of proposals to prospective clients through the tender of requirements.
•Support operations teams during the delivery of projects the company has won.
•Tender analysis and selection criteria definition (Supplier Evaluation Matrix).
•Negotiations (define negotiation strategy and drive negotiation results).
•Create and manage Procurement Plans and strategies for major projects.
•Review subcontracts with legal support.
•Manage relationship with subcontractors and suppliers, securing their performance in perspective of their project deliverables (time, quality, costs):
•Strict adherence to businesses Compliance requirements and leading and defining its application to other departments ways of working.
•Track contract commitments.
•Manage Change Orders
•Monitor KPIs.
•Analyse and evaluate capital and revenue options and lead decision making process
Experience & Qualifications
•Proven track record in a purchasing role (ideally within project environment)
•Knowledge of procurement systems
•Knowledge of forms of contract – NEC3, MF1, ICHEME among others
•Knowledge of plant, equipment management and purchasing thereof
•Change management & continuous improvement
•Working in a project team, under pressure to deliver against programme and below budget.
•Membership of appropriate professional body (essential)
•Professional / post graduate Purchasing or Management Qualification others
